I am a certified high school teacher with over 14 years teaching experience & 11 years of tutoring experience. I earned my BA from Marquette University and also studied at La Universidad de Madrid in Spain. I have a double major in Spanish and English, and have taught both at the secondary level. My teaching background is diverse as it includes teaching in private, public, alternative, and charter schools. I am fluent in the Spanish language, and I gained a strong sense of the Spanish culture after studying 1 year abroad in Spain.
Experience
I love helping students to not only master but also to appreciate the opportunities that are available to people who are bilingual in Spanish and English. My greatest accomplishment has always been my ability to relate well with teens and the strong rapport that I achieve with them either as their teacher or their tutor. *If you are in the Northville Public Schools, please know that currently I am tutoring other Northville students, all of whom are now experiencing success in their classes. I am aware of the IB change that Northville recently implemented into its curriculum as well as the rigorous demands it places upon the students. I have not only helped other students successfully adapt to these new academic demands but also excel and increase their academic standing in their Spanish classes. As a parent myself, I understand that selecting a tutor to work with your child isn't always easy, so I would be glad to provide you with current parent references. Hobbies
Over a 9 year period, I have successfully tutored over 60 students, helping them to either master, test out of a class, or improve their academic performance in their Spanish classes. My tutoring sessions also include teaching them study skills designed to help them master grammar and vocabulary. I also address any needs students may have in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
